The second runner-up was Jaime Sorokin who captured a lovely photo of her and her friends before embarking on one of the first Office of Student Activities planned hikes to Ein Gedi. Their photos and the following top 15 runners-up are presented in this gallery.
Here is what Eli had to say about his winning photo:
"On the day that picture was taken I was in Tel Aviv with my best friend who came to visit me from Canada. Showing him the city of Tel Aviv was first on my list as I think that it's the most liberal, modern, and Western city in Israel with an Israeli/Middle Eastern touch to it. The beaches are some of the best places to spend your time in the city, so I had to take him there. We bumped into the Ben Gurion sculpture when we were walking through all the beaches from the south end to the north end. When I saw this popular sculpture I asked him to take a picture right away as I do that same position. Coincidentally both Ben Gurion and I are Ashkenazi Jews, love Israel, and were wearing the same coloured swim shorts on that day :). This picture is amongst my favourite ones of my time in Israel during the exchange program."
