Reflections on my time at HU
By Janna Stark Glassman, Vancouver
I decided to go on the one-year abroad program at Hebrew U in 1986 and it was such a memorable time in my life. Sometimes it still feels like yesterday when I reunite with friends I made there some 30 years ago. To this day, we still discuss our adventures and fond memories of our time there.
Each day in Jerusalem whether I wandered through the streets enjoying the culturally diverse neighbourhoods, stood in line at the bank, took a bus ride to my volunteer job, or ate cheese toast on campus, I felt this indescribable feeling. I felt proud, strong, and excited with each adventure.
The professors at Hebrew U were often world-renowned lecturers and writers disseminating information I carry with me through to today.
Little did I know that I would marry into a family that was completely devoted in all ways to the Hebrew University. I smile proudly whenever we talk about the University knowing that I have student insider experience that no one can understand until they are blessed to live it too.
