In Montreal, CFHU National Chair Monette Malewski hosted an evening in her home in honour of visiting Dean of Hebrew University’s Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare, Dr. Mona Khoury-Kassabri. The event featured a lively discussion that covered a wide range of topics including the Israeli and Quebec experience pertaining to language rights and inclusion of minorities.
Among those in attendance were several Social Work grads who were particularly interested in learning about Dr. Khoury-Kassabri, who last summer became the first Israeli Arab woman appointed Dean at a university in Israel. Mona spoke about her faculty which conducts research in many vital areas from autism to disability studies, from trauma and resilience to civil society and philanthropy in Israel.
It proved a stimulating evening and also a wonderful way to celebrate Monette’s birthday. Mona is in Canada for a series of events and meetings in Montreal and Toronto.
